LaPagina0 is a Spanish language digital publication featuring a wide variety of topics from a cross-section of lifestyle, culture, communications, journalism and related fields. It features some stunning photographs and thought-provoking articles.

LaPagina0 considered using Wordpress and Joomla but weren't sure they were the most appropriate because they were too 'blog' looking. They wanted something more professional and eventually selected ProsePoint Express to be their content management system.

Huntington News were using old style html editing to update and maintain their local news website. This posed problems as staff had to submit changes to a webmaster and wait for the results, creating a bottleneck that was impacting their ability to deliver timely and accurate news updates.

In trying to remove this stiffling bottleneck, Huntington News realised they needed to switch to a content management system (CMS) where staff could post their own stories and make their own changes. Yet at the same time, they didn't want to shock their readership with too much change at once. It was highly desirable to keep the appearance of the website unchanged as much as possible, despite it being a design from several years ago.

In other words, Huntington News wanted the transition from html editing to a modern web-enabled CMS to be as painless, seamless and transparent to the readers as possible. After the transition, then they would consider a site redesign.

Huntington News found ProsePoint Express and after a couple of weeks of evaluation and email discussions, they signed up and prepaid for six months. They were convinced that ProsePoint Express was the way forward.

For the first time ever, we are going to remove a feature from ProsePoint Express, and it may impact your site. Please read this.

We will soon be implementing a change to ProsePoint Express which will remove local, per-layout, settings from channel widgets. (Actually, we are removing local settings from all widgets, but channel widgets are the only ones affected in a major way).

Firstly, some apologies for the relative quiet over the last month or so. I've been overseas on holidays so I took a break from doing write ups for a while.

There have been a number of recent developments since the last update, so here's some information about them.

ProsePoint Express will be temporarily offline on March 14th 2011 from 02:00am to 06:00am (Greenwich Mean Time) for routine scheduled maintenance. During this time, the ProsePoint Express service and all ProsePoint Express sites will be unavailable.

Whilst we expect the maintenance to take about an hour, we are allocating four hours in case of unexpected difficulties.

You do not need to take any action. Your ProsePoint Express site will remain the same before and after the maintenance window.

A status update of recent developments ...

We've recently implemented a couple of new features for the layout manager in ProsePoint Express: Stretchable zones and selectively hiding widgets. These two work hand in hand to make layouts even more flexible.

We've just changed the layout manager in ProsePoint Express to use 48 columns instead of 24. We think we've changed all the documentation to match, but there might be some stray references that were overlooked.

If you have a ProsePoint Express site, there's no need to worry. We've automatically upgraded all the sites to match. Just remember that layouts are now 48 units wide instead of 24 and you'll be fine. (Although I admit I find mentally adding up to 48 a bit more difficult than adding up to 24).
